Woodlawn Course Details - Bardstown Golf
The Woodlawn Springs golf course is a perfect complement to Maywood. Measuring from 5,062 yards from the red tees to 6,532 yards from the blue tees, Woodlawn Springs offers golfers of all skill levels a fun and challenging golf experience. The Riviera Bermuda grass in the fairways reward accurate drivers of the golf ball with excellent lies, allowing those golfers the opportunity at low scores when hitting into somewhat smaller greens.
The straight forward layout of the front nine is very appealing to beginning golfers while offering the lower handicap players the prospect of low scores. Holes 1 through 4 are virtually wide open with room to approach the green from several angles. Hole #5, with out of bounds running down both sides of the fairway, requires a properly placed tee shot toward the left side to compensate for a fairly severe slope of the fairway to the right. Hole #6 is a longer par 3 measuring at 195 yards that will challenge all players to be very accurate off the tee. Holes 7 through 9 test skill with the tee ball, properly placed drives reward players with simple approaches that can lead to birdies!
Things tend to tighten up when playing Woodlawn Springs’ back 9. 5 of the holes on the inward half are tree-lined requiring accuracy off the tee as well as on the approach. Hole #16 is a perfect example of the character of the back side. Measuring 565 yards, with trees on both sides of the fairway, #16 is a 3-shot par 5 hole that demands accuracy over length. With the green sitting nearly 50 feet above the fairway, the approach is most challenging and hard to gauge distance.
The prospect of low scores and the use of every club in the bag make a round at Woodlawn Springs both a challenge and a joy to play.
